Dual Degree Programs


Doctor of Medicine/ Master of Public Health (MD/MPH)
The combined MD/Master of Public Health program is designed to prepare Keck medical students for careers in public health, community medicine, and health policy. The five year program, which includes four years of medical school, combines public health courses with medical education. Students apply to the Master of Public Health program no later than January of their third year of medical school and begin core MPH courses in the summer before fourth year. Doctor of Medicine/ Doctor of Philosophy (MD/PhD)
The MD/PhD program is a fully-funded program of the University of Southern California and the California Institute of Technology, designed for medical students who aspire to be physician-scientists and/or have a career in academic medicine or the biomedical industry. Application to the program is open to both fourth-year undergraduates (at the time of application to medical school) as well as current KSOM medical students. Doctor of Medicine/ Master of Business Administration (MD/MBA)
The Keck School of Medicine and the Marshall School of Business jointly offer the combined MD/Master of Business Administration program for medical students who have interest in learning about design and management of health care systems. The program spans five to five-and-a-half years, and students may begin their dedicated MBA year after the third year of medical school.
