Student Worker Hiring Overview

Please see below for information on the student worker hiring process and necessary forms. Please contact Cynthia Joseph cynthia.hyun@med.usc.edu for any questions.
  1. Apply and interview for an open position.
  2. Once you receive a job offer, you will proceed through the hiring process. 
  3. complete the personal information section of the Employee Data Form (EDF) and send it to the hiring manager.
  4. Gather I-9 Documents. I-9 documents are used to verify identity and authorization to work.
  5. Make an appointment with the hiring manager for I-9 processing. Documents must be originals, copies or photos of documents will not be accepted. 
  6. Complete onboarding process on Workday. All necessary actions can be found in Workday inbox. Failure to complete actions will result in a hiring delay.
  7. Once Workday onboarding is completed, can begin working.

What is an I9?

The hiring manager is specific to each position. They are listed with the job application and description.

How do I make an I9 appointment?

I9 appointments will be scheduled through the hiring manager.

What is Workday onboarding?

Workday is used to track hours and pay. For onboarding, you must input your personal, direct deposit, and tax information. Due to changes from COVID-19, students are required to set up direct deposit for payment (for information on setting up direct deposit). Students should also set up electronic W2 statements.
