Keck School of Medicine MD Program Policy on the Use of KSOM Class LISTSERV Email Lists

To reduce the volume of email messages students receive, restrictions have been placed on what can be sent and received through the listservs. For messages not meeting the guidelines of the Class Listserv policy, students can make submissions to the Central Line (ASSM Newsletter), post on their class Facebook group, or email messages via SIG listservs.

Policy Statement:

The Keck School of Medicine of USC (KSOM) class listserv email lists are a valuable tool for disseminating information to the medical student classes. However, the effectiveness of this service is greatly diminished if the listserv recipients are overwhelmed with messages. Furthermore, there are alternative mechanisms for disseminating information to students from other students, faculty, and staff. Therefore, this policy is to control the use of the KSOM class listserv email lists.

Audience:

All members of the Keck School of Medicine Community.

Policy Requirements:

  1. Faculty, staff, and students wishing to distribute information via one or more of the KSOM class listserv email lists must submit their request to medkeck@usc.edu.
  2. The designated administrator will determine the most appropriate entity to review the request.
Requests that are deemed an appropriate use of the listserv will be distributed to the students in a timely manner.
ii. Other requests may be distributed via another mechanism or returned to the sender with information on other options.
